In a glittering function held on the premises of the Maharashtra Institute of Technology(MIT), the International School of Broadcast Journalism was launched and the first batch of inductees along with the fourth batch of inductees of the Masters in Government programme of the School of Government, were welcomed.

The chief guest for the event were Lt. Gen. Rajendra Singh and noted journalist Sudheendra Kulkarni. '

The event began with Lt. Gen. Singh addressing the students about the importance of the course and about the problems currently faced by the nation.
He said, “for a nation that is this big and vast internal and external security is of prime importance to the nation. However it is also important that the youth of today be guided in the right direction as far as politics and government is concerned. The aim of this course is to produce individuals who will be able to take decisions which will enable them to work towards the well being of the nation.”
The Venue
Emphasizing on the importance of internal security he said, “the world is growing multipolar and as a result the threat of global terrorism is looming large over the world. Moreover in India the problem is raising its ugly head again and again. It is of prime importance that we take a serious look at things and consider the threat the nation is under.”
He also highlighted the point that India has been one of the largest contributors to the United Nations Peace Keeping Forces and that the nation now had to take up the issue of internal security more seriously. Kulkarni also spoke on the occasion to the students about the importance of the political system and the broadcast media going hand in hand he said, “the only way we can strengthen the existing political scenario in the country is by strengthening the multiparty system in the country, and by ensuring that journalists and politicians have the courage to rise up against what they feel is wrong.” After the addresses by the guests there was an interactive session with the students and the guests. Other dignitaries present were, Adv. B.Avhad, Francis Menzes, and Rahul Karad of MIT.
